I know it's half a year before the Fourth of July, but... This Patriotic themed vintage drive-in speaker set was a long time in the making, but I really love how it turned out! I think it's a really cool tribute to The United States of America and the drive-in theater - a unique American institution!
Around 2018 or 2019 I was at an antique/junk store and I spotted this cast iron base rusting away leaning against a building. It had a "star" embossed into the base and kind of reminded me of Captain America's shield. It was the exact sized diameter that I use for my smaller desktop sized Bluetooth speaker sets so I knew I would one day use it for something special. After a few years of looking at it I finally got around to making it a reality and I couldn't be more pleased! I wanted it to be something special so I used a NEW/OLD stock EPRAD red Glo-Top and some earlier EPRAD speakers to complete the look. Alternating red, white, and blue metallic paint really make the star/shield pop! Like always with my sets this features Bluetooth and a built in MP3 player already loaded with hundreds and hundreds of vintage drive-in ads, car commercials, soda pop, candy, gas station, and other goodies from the 1950s and 1960s that start playing at the flick of the switch!
Below is a video of this speaker set in action and a few more photos!
