Just Off the Bench - May 2026!
It's been a busy few months lately and I've had this gumball machine sitting on the back burner that I should have gotten done a long time ago. We had a fantastic family trip to Colorado a week ago once my son got out of college for the summer, and my real job has been busy and leaving me little time to play with gumball machines and speakers - but, hey, that's a good thing!
Anyhow, just finished this past week is this great looking vintage Acorn gumball machine. Judging from the parts when I tore it down it looks to be from around the late 60s or early 70s. It had a near perfect globe, some great chrome on the outside of the coin mechanism, and near perfect glass globe. I went with the classic red color that came from Oak's Culver City factory - but the inside of that coin mech still needed a complete tear down and restoration. To me these things aren't restored until EVERY screw and spring have been dealt with! This machine will give the new owners decades and decades of great service!
