1950's Drive-In Movie Speakers Made by Hammond - Now with Bluetooth & MP3!
Straight from the 1950’s - these vintage drive-in movie theater speakers are OUT OF SITE! These are original drive-in speakers made by Hammond out of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, stamped 1957 inside. If you’ve ever built or messed with electronics in the past, then you probably know of Hammond as they have been in business for over 100 years. This piece of mid-century technology consists of two original drive-in speakers and the original, correct junction box for them to sit upon! The speakers have been outfitted with new speaker driver, new wiring, and new pots. The best part is these speakers still have the original red volume knobs, as well! All new electronics have been installed inside of the junction box.
With the flip of the switch on the stand, the speakers automatically start playing one of hundreds of pre-loaded vintage advertisements from the 1950s and 1960s – like this vintage corn dog ad from a drive-in theater you see in the attached video. The ads pre-loaded on the set range from drive-in intermission spots, old B-Movie trailers, vintage automobile ads, candy, soda, and snack commercials, and more! And with the Bluetooth connection you can simply connect your phone or tablet to the speaker set and play whatever you like - it is essentially a vintage looking Bluetooth speaker!
The set is sitting on a custom made, heavy duty steel stand made with 2" schedule 40 steel pipe and a 3/8" steel plate laser cut at 10" diameter for a sturdy base. The stand is short and is perfect for countertops, workbenches, tables, and desks. The complete speaker set site at 17" tall. Felt pads under the base keep surfaces safe.
Below is a video of the speakers in action and several photos!
