Vintage Oak Acorn Gumball Machine with a Coca-Cola Theme
I decided to make another Coke themed gumball machine this past week, but slightly different than the one I made earlier this
summer. This machine latest machine was made a little earlier than the previous and features the "tear drop" chute flap. I opted to use the classic "fishtail" Coke design on the sides rather than the round Coke button that I did before.
Like all of my other gumball machine restorations I tear EVERYTHING down to the last spring and dog. Each piece is sandblaster, polished, painted, lubricated... whatever it needs to get it looking as best as it possibly can! I've included a photo on this post showing the coin mechanism on this machine going though it's restoration. I see so many people saying they do a restoration on these, and basically they just slap on some new spray paint over the old and add a few stickers they bought on eBay and call it a day. I make my decals, all waterslides, kind of like what you put on model cars and airplanes back when you were a kid - not stickers. And when you take my machines art you will see that the restoration happens INSIDE too, not just what you see on the outside. Anyhow... here is a 60 plus year old penny Acorn gumball machine that will hopefully have a long, long life ahead of it!
