1960's Koropp Drive-In Movie Theater Speakers with Bluetooth & MP3!
This 1960s era drive-in speaker set and junction box was originally made by Koropp. Owned by Glenn Koropp and built in

Sacramento, California, these speakers are easily recognizable by their “bulls-eye” design on the speaker front and the “tuna can” shaped junction box. The small ears that hold down the tops of the Koropp junction boxes are notoriously famous to break from people tightening the hold down screws down too hard – but luckily, this set has both ears intact! This particular set was from one of the old Blumenfeld owned drive-in theaters from northern California. The junction box has a blue replica diffuser lens that glows from internal LEDs.
The speakers feature the original Koropp branded potentiometers, gone through, cleaned, and working perfectly, as well as the original Koropp knobs. Brand new polypropylene speaker drivers have been added and new speaker wires to run to the junction box. Inside the junction box the original terminal strip and transformer have been removed and swapped out with new electronics giving the set both Bluetooth and MP3 capabilities! You can connect to the speakers via Bluetooth with your phone, tablet or other smart device to play YOUR music, or just listen to the hours and hours of pre-loaded audio goodies from the 1950s & 1960s including vintage drive-in theater intermission spots, candy and soda ads, vintage car and gasoline commercials, and classic B-movie trailers!
The speaker and junction box sit on top of a custom made, heavy duty speaker stand. The base is 3/8” thick steel laser cut to 14” in diameter, with a three foot 2” schedule 40 steel pipe. The base has felt pads underneath to protect floors. The stand is heavy and solid to make sure the set does not come crashing over if bumped in to. The stand weighs 26 lbs before you even put the speaker and J-box on top of it! The speakers, junction box, and stand all feature a silver and gray hammered finish.
The set is perfect for offices, game rooms, man caves, the shop, or garage… or anywhere you want an authentic piece of mid-century history! These also look and work great at car shows, too!
