And how about some Roy Rogers, too?
If you've looked through my website or other social medias related to my drive-in speaker restorations you've probably seen that I've done quite a few of them. One challenge to myself is trying not to completely copy myself over and over by making each one look the same. Different brands, eras, styles, and color combinations help me not repeat myself. Then comes trying to make a video of a newly restored set that isn't exactly the same as the last one. I think I have close to 220 different drive-in speaker videos on my YouTube channel, and as you go back you can see the changes in video locations, styles, and how I do/did them! Hopefully, the ones made the past few years look and sound much better than the very early ones! But hey, I'm not a pro... just a guy trying to show off his art!
This all brings me the speaker set I'm showcasing today. This speaker set is an RCA/DITMCO/SPECO transition set that doesn't have a logo on the front of the speakers enclosures. I've had several like this in the past. Where some say RCA or later Drive-In's on the upper front, I've had some have a round indention and others like this where it protrudes with nothing there. It's like they didn't put the die in the casting for the name! As you can see, I chose to put this set on one of my custom made short steel stands, and I have an alternating color of red and hammered silver. Like my other speaker restorations this one has a built in MP3 player and can connect to your device via Bluetooth to play whatever you want through it! These short ones are great for the office, workbench, kitchen counter, or any place where space is limited for a large full sized set! And this one is pre-loaded with hours and hours of classic 1950s and 1960s gems - mostly from drive-ins, but in this case a classic Post Sugar Crisp cereal commercial featuring singing cowboy Roy Rogers!
My Dad has some really cool vintage Roy Rogers antiques so I laid them around the speaker set for a little eye candy... and here you go! So here is something a little bit different for one of my drive-in speaker videos. Click below and enjoy!
