It's been awhile since I did some EPRAD drive-in movie speakers, so here we go! EPRADs were manufactured in Toledo, Ohio, and this particular set has the matching junction box. After building the speaker stand I went ahead and applied a dark gray hammered paint that hammered beautifully. With the speakers and top of the J-box I went with a silver hammered paint, and did all of the accents in a bright red to really make it pop! I think it turned out great!
Of course, like all of my other drive-in speaker set restorations the insides of these are completely redone. Everything inside gets trashed and then rebuilt from scratch, so the speakers have brand new drivers, a new potentiometer, and of course all new wiring. The J-Box gets an upgrade internally so now the set has a Bluetooth connection so you can connect these to your cellphone, tablet, or even your TV or projector (if they are Bluetooth enabled of course). And as always when you flip the switch on these you get hours and hours of 1950s and 1960s vintage drive-in movie ads, B-movie trailers, vintage snacks and soft drinks, classic cars, and other audio gems that will make you feel like you are taking part of American Graffiti!
