Today is Monday May, 27th 2024 and I just wanted to take a minute to reflect upon why I (and so many of us) have the day off today. In just a few hours I'll be grilling bratwursts on the grill and will be taking my first dip of the year into the pool. But this would not be possible if it were not for those in the armed services that sacrificed it all to allow me to do such a thing!
One of the great things about traveling this county and abroad is there are so many places that have been preserved or built that honors those that gave their lives - and those that came back home, too! When you are out make sure to stop and visit these museums, battlegrounds, ships, planes, bases, and graveyards to help yourself and your children understand what all was given by those wearing a uniform. Many of these places are free to visit, and often there are donation boxes to help cover further restorations or programs to teach the next generation. Make sure to give if you can!
So, the following are just a few photos I've taken over the years while traveling and paying my respects to honor those that gave their lives. ~ Jason
The Gettysburg Museum

Normandy, France

The National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, MO

Poppies at the WWI Museum

The Dayton Soldiers’ Monument at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio

The Pearl Harbor / USS Arizona Memorial, Oahu, Hawaii

The USS Alabama, Mobile, Alabama

And finally... since this is mainly a drive-in movie theater page, here is a Memorial Day message from the 1950s played through a vintage EPRAD set restored to a patriotic theme:
